Causes of PCOs / PCODs

Insulin Resistance and Hyperinsulinemia are the major causes behind the disorder. In the body, insulin controls sugar. Insulin resistance means the failure of cells to respond to the action of insulin by transferring glucose (sugar) into the muscles and other tissues from the bloodstream. Hence pancreas produces more insulin to combat the high sugars. The actual or exact cause of PCOD remains to be unclear. The association of PCOD with:

  1. Low-grade inflammation,
  2. Excess insulin,
  3. High-quantity male hormone development (Hyperandrogenism), and Genetics can, however, be found.
